Workouts: Types

Heart Rate Zones
A workout built using Heart Rate Zones ensures that it is always suitable to you. As your fitness and LTHR improve, Motivo will adapt the target values, making sure that it’s always as hard as you intended.

Heart Rate Zone workouts are also a great choice if you wish to share the workout with others, as every user that does the workout will have it tailored to their level of fitness.

In order to follow a Heart Rate Zone workout, you must have a suitable heart rate monitor paired with Motivo. In order for the workout to be accurate you should also ensure that your max HR and / or LTHR values are realistic in your user profile.

Heart Rate BPM
If you know your heart rate well, you can build workouts based on specific heart rate BPM values. For example, you could create a workout sector that is 20 minutes long targeting a BPM value of 165.

Naturally, these workouts are best suited to experienced athletes and are not ideal for sharing, due to the personal nature of the target values.

Power Zones
A workout built using Power Zones ensures that it is always suitable to you. As your fitness and power output improves, Motivo will adapt the target values, making sure that it’s always as hard as you intended.

In order to do a Power Zone based workout, you must have a suitable power measuring device and have your Motivo power profile set up, including your Functional Threshold Power (FTP).

Power Zone workouts are also a great choice if you wish to share the workout with others, as every user that does the workout will have it tailored to their level of fitness / strength.

Power Watts
Workouts built using Power Watts are user specific. Each sector in the workout will target a specific power output value (such as 200w). As such, given every user has unique power output abilities, these workouts are only suitable for the rider that they were intended for.

In order to follow a Power Watts based workout, you must have a suitable power measuring device paired with Motivo.

Rate of Perceived Effort (RPE)
Built on a scale of effort, ranging from 1 (easy) to 10 (maximal effort), RPE workouts are perfect for users that do not wish to train using the modern technologies of biometric sensors but would rather simply listen to their body.
